Isabel - Friday Morning

Things were OK but snarly when we went to bed.  We checked on Road Trip about 8ish (too dark for pics), she'd worn through one line - we adjusted her lines, wind had already come clockwise from N/NE over to the East, and the tide was high but not big deal.

A long night with no power, but nothing appears to land on the house... so time to check things out

Home

312 Washington Street, trees still there, lots of debris in the yard... Looking north-ish towards Spa Creek Washington Street, looking south-ish... OK life looks pretty normal.... so far...
On the way through Eastport
Our first clue that something is amiss... that's Davis' Pub at the end of the street, about 4 feet under... This is friend Jim Caprons house, with water lapping the sides...(and yes that tree in the front yard has a severe verticality problem) Yep, that's water lapping the side of Jim garage... but but but he's almost a block from the normal water's edge...
Wow, Jim... that's really good planning on the height of your garage (house is another 2' up, not even close) But, I hope the neighbors aren't upset at your new pool... Enough of Jim's place, we scoop up crew Charlotte and off we go to see if Road Trip made it.  First problem on First Street, its UNDER WATER!
Eastport Yacht Club
We turn the corner into EYC, and yep, everything is under water!  We are very very worried about Road Trip But initially our view of her is blocked, we wander around the edge of the property, and there she's is!  Resting happily on her lines!  WHAT A RELIEF But, wow, there is water everywhere else...
And notice, there are no docks in sight, nor even the tops of the pilings! Did I mention that the water was lapping the club house steps... this picture is taken from said clubhouse steps Mondial and Road Trip are proud of the work their owners put into their dock lines yesterday

Severn Sailing Association

But let's check out next door (we're members there too)...her burgee made it through the night ... woaaa ... there's water EVERY WHERE there... No land at SSA anywhere in sight...

hmmm, that Catalina needs to ease her bow line some Its a different world out there..

Back through Eastport up to AYC

Time to check on S&M up at AYC's Sailing Center.... but its hard to get there... Fourth and Severn is under water So is Fifth and Severn (the North edge of  AYC's Sailing Center)... this is not good "Dead End" should really say "Wet End" Sure enough, most of the Sailing Center is deep under.
Annapolis YC
That building on the right is the "Butler Building", memories of floods past had her at times 1-2' under... she's 4' under this morning This is S&M's normal row, while the boats that stayed near the water are not literally floating off their trailers, they are in about 4' of water, and trailers are positively bouyant (I now know)... so they are moving around a bit The big success story, AYC's brand new re-configured floating piers! Came through with flying colors (and all the boats tied to them).  Look carefully at the tops of the pilings, they are within 2' of the top... normally they are 6-8' above the docks.  Good planning, huh?
And S&M is happy and "feet dry" (only about 15' from the water's edge) Up to the bridge.  That's AYC RC Chair Chip Thayer in the cockpit of  Quick Step. They came through unscathed as well, but he does look like he's missing his morning coffee And looking over at the main clubhouse... all wet over there too.  The lower "deck", aka the Skipjack, was 3' under at high water.

But we couldnt get there, as Compromise Street was a wee bit flooded too.

Comparing AYC's docks with Eastport's, we decide that Road Trip needs a new temporary home.  With permission to move her to AYC, we start our next venture of the day.
